Karoline Klint is an 11-year-old artist specializing in digital art, sketching, and watercolors. She currently lives in Denmark where she spends her free time swimming, playing football, and watching lots of anime. Her favorite colors are blue, red, and pink, and she loves autumn because it’s Halloween season, and she loves scary things.

About Karoline’s Work

Klint says she can’t pinpoint when she first started making art because she’s simply always been doing it. “I naturally always had a big imagination,” says Klint. Her personal style started to develop a few years ago, around age 9, and she’s run with it ever since. It started as a cartoon/manga style, but she says she has recently developed more of an eye for realism. She especially loves drawing realistic eyes, and she struggles the most with realistic shoulders. When drawing people, Klint doesn’t often use pictures as references, preferring instead to observe the real thing while she draws, in order to truly capture all the angles and shadows.

Some of my art at grandma’s place. My grandma framed a lot of my art and I traded all of them to my dad in exchange for this website 🙂

The internet has been a huge inspiration for Klint’s style, especially various artists who demonstrate their process on YouTube, but she is also inspired by the world around her. She says she loves doodling in class because people’s conversations inspire her. She is most productive when she is visiting her grandmother because all of the beautiful nature that surrounds her house inspires her as well.

Her art-making process is often a mystery, even to Klint, but she does say that some of her favorite tools are Posca Paint Pens and that she is a big proponent of listening to music while creating, especially for her digital art. She mostly listens to classics while she works, like Elvis or Michael Jackson, or indie music you won’t often hear on the radio.

When asked what she loves about making art, Klint couldn’t pick just one thing. “I can just build my own world. I don’t concentrate on anything else around me, I just draw…I kinda escape the entire world…It’s a form of entertainment for me, but I’m also still making something productive in a way.” She also enjoys how her art impacts others. “I just want to make people happy with what I draw,” says Klint. “I just want to put my art out there and see them smile because of it.”
